Before my critique I must confess that this looks like a 2 layer composition.
For me it is not easy to write a fully detailed critique on portraits.
I like this one ! Why ? The reason is as simple as - the human determined presence in an hostile environment ... and this apparently simple detail in the whole composition is masterly underlined by the selective colour palette. The "endlessly white" snowy background with the industry chimneys far away has a pop up effect on the young woman figure. I interpret this as the future (young woman) versus the past (pollution) although both are shown in the same image. The present time showcased has another contrast that I love - the endless cycle of Nature - youth versus winter.
the first thing that I see is a digital image with texture above it, vignetting-like effect ( also very artificially) and intentionally touched colors to fake film photo , maybe crossed processed ... Composition is nothing special, central but there is more space to the right . Too much space above the figure with a wire, not adding to the whole atmosphere. There is accent on the reddish hair in contrast to bluish environment, but the colors are not good.
I think when the purpose is to fake something easily achievable ( using film for instance)... it's a kitsch [link]
Magic of red female hair, straight and honest girlish look against the background of ever desolate winter landscape, sadness of sky and earth of Mother Russia... very, very good. But I question the appropriateness of her boots - they are too fancy for the scene. Oversize boyish (no heels for God's sake) boots may be better...
I agree that it seems very structured and rigid but it also does seem very genuine. I think her expression and posture just say something about her or her character. She is strong and confident in herself.
